Tonight I made some yummy chili and fresh buns for dinner. It was a hit with everyone but the almost 4 year old. He doesn't like much of anything.
I made two different types of chili. A copy cat Tim Horton's Chili for all my fellow Canadians out there that love their Timmies (I know I sure do) and a chicken chili for me since I refrain from eating ground beef (yuck). So my friends said that the Timmies impostor was really close to the real deal. It was a little runny at dinner time since I'm always late getting food ready. I cooked both of the chili in slow cookers. Its just so much easier that way.
Here's the link to the recipe for the Tim Horton's chili. I didn't follow it exactly. I normally don't just to put my little bit of taste into my food. Plus I use what I have on hand rather then going to buy that one ingredient that I don't think will "make or break" the recipe.
Also I don't normally measure seasoning. I tend to just eyeball and guestimate what looks good enough. Especially if its a recipe that I won't taste test myself.
Here's the link to the chicken chili recipe. Again I didn't follow it exactly. There is no fun to cooking unless you experiment. I wished it hard turned out a little more spicy. I just added some Frank's Red Hot " I put that $#!@ on everything" and called it good.
Now on to the buns/rolls what ever you want to call them. I got the recipe from Mennonite Girls Can Cook for their Air Buns. Man oh man did they ever turn out amahzing. You can't eat just one of their buns. I split the recipe in half and came out with 21 buns that were a little bigger then they said to do.
Sorry I don't have any pitures for you tonight. I can post some up tomorrow.
Happy Creating
